Trinidad, Cuba's museum city, is quite close to Sancti Spíritus. Wandering through its narrow streets and town squares and visiting its museum, you'll be transported back in time which is why UNESCO has declared this city to be a part of world heritage. Governor Diego Velázquez founded the settlement in 1514, but the more than 500 years that have gone by since then have made no dent on its old-world charm.
